Extruder
Creates line, surface or solid geometries with a fixed cross-sectional profile taken from the original geometry of the feature.
Input Ports
- If the geometry of the input feature was a face or an area, then the geometry is replaced with a solid.
- If the geometry of the input feature was linear, then the result is a composite surface geometry.
Output Ports
The features with the extruded geometries are output through this port. Extrusions created from surfaces may have surface normals pointing out or in, depending on the direction of the extrusion vector. All other extrusions will have surface normals out.
Parameters
The direction the extrusion vector should follow. To extrude along the z axis, select Vertical. To extrude along a specific vector, select Specified. To extrude along a surface normal in the case of faces, and vertically in the case of polygons, select Auto.
The desired length of the extrusion. You can enter the extrusion distance, or the value can be taken from an existing feature attribute (select the attribute name from the pull-down list).
You can enter the x component of the extrusion vector, or the value can be taken from an existing feature attribute (select the attribute name from the pull-down list).
You can enter the y component of the extrusion vector, or the value can be taken from an existing feature attribute (select the attribute name from the pull-down list).
You can enter the z component of the extrusion vector, or the value can be taken from an existing feature attribute (select the attribute name from the pull-down list).
Usage Notes
This transformer has no effect on features that have a geometry other than a face, area or line. Faces, areas, or lines contained within aggregates are not extruded.
Example
Editing Transformer Parameters
Using a set of menu options, transformer parameters can be assigned by referencing other elements in the workspace. More advanced functions, such as an advanced editor and an arithmetic editor, are also available in some transformers. To access a menu of these options, click beside the applicable parameter. For more information, see Transformer Parameter Menu Options.
