PointCloudComponentKeeper

Keeps only specified point cloud components, discarding all others.

Jump to Configuration

Typical Uses

  • Removing unused components
  • Removing components to meet processing or format requirements
  • Removing components to increase processing efficiency or optimize storage

How does it work?

The PointCloudComponentKeeper receives point cloud features, removes all components except those specified in the Components To Keep table, and outputs the modified point cloud.

Standard component names may be selected from drop-down menus, whereas user-specified names must be entered directly..

Usage Notes

  • The PointCloudComponentRemover and PointCloudComponentKeeper perform similar functions. The PointCloudComponentKeeper is more useful when removing a proportionately large number of components, whereas the PointCloudComponentRemover is more useful when removing a small number of components.
  • The transformer cannot detect the names or existence of any given component on the input point cloud feature. A PointCloudPropertyExtractor may be used to check for the existence of components.

Choosing a Point Cloud Transformer

FME has a selection of transformers for working specifically with point cloud data.

For information on point cloud geometry and properties, see Point Clouds (IFMEPointCloud).
