RasterInterpretationCoercer

Alters the interpretation type of rasters, including all bands, and converts cell values if necessary.

Jump to Configuration

Typical Uses

  • Changing raster interpretation type to meet format or processing requirements.

How does it work?

The RasterInterpretationCoercer receives raster features and converts all bands based on a chosen Destination Interpretation Type. Choices include:

  • RGB24
  • RGBA32
  • RGB48
  • RGBA64
  • Gray8
  • Gray16
  • Red8
  • Red16
  • Green8
  • Green16
  • Blue8
  • Blue16
  • Alpha8
  • Alpha16
  • UInt8
  • Int8
  • UInt16
  • Int16
  • UInt32
  • Int32
  • UInt64
  • Int64
  • Real32
  • Real64

Options are available to control the manner in which cell values are converted, handling color to color, numeric to color, color to numeric, numeric to numeric, and floating-point to integer conversions.

Band names, if they exist, are retained.

This transformer is unaffected by raster band and palette selection.

Multi-Band Rasters

When converting to an interpretation with multiple components, such as RGB and RGBA, the input raster will be expected to have exactly 1, 3, or 4 bands. If only one band is supplied, it will be cloned to create the correct number of bands for conversion to the chosen interpretation.

When converting to a single color or numeric interpretation, multiple input bands will be averaged into a single one.

Palettes

If bands selected for conversion contain palettes, the destination interpretation must be an unsigned integer - UInt8, UInt16 or UInt32 to accommodate the palette keys.

Usage Notes

Choosing a Raster Transformer

FME has an extensive selection of transformers for working with raster data. They can be generally categorized as working with whole rasters, bands, cells or palettes, and those designed for workflow control or combining raster with vector data.

For information on raster geometry and properties, see Rasters (IFMERaster).

Editing Transformer Parameters

Transformer parameters can be set by directly entering values, using expressions, or referencing other elements in the workspace such as attribute values or user parameters. Various editors and context menus are available to assist. To see what is available, click beside the applicable parameter.

For more information, see Transformer Parameter Menu Options.
