Pointools POD Writer Parameters

Compression Tolerance

Sets the maximum error as the distance from the original point tolerated by the compression algorithm.

The default is 0.001.

Setting a higher value results in an output file that is more compressed; however, setting too small a value can result in excessive indexing times and poor performance. It is important to use a reasonable value.

Note: This value should represent the worst cases; most data should be considerably closer to the original data.
