Resizing an Instance

You can reconfigure an existing instance in the following ways:

  • Change to a different instance type that is larger or smaller than what you currently require.
  • Increase the amount of data storage you require on the Primary disk.
  • Change the size of storage you require on the Temporary disk.

For instance type and data storage pricing, see FME Flow Hosted Instance Costs.

Changing the Instance Type

When changing the instance type, keep in mind the following:

  • To initiate, the instance must be running.
  • The instance is shut down and a new backup is created. Depending on the size of your instance, the backup may take more than an hour to complete.
  • The FME Flow services do not run until the server restarts.
  • Your instance URL may not resolve until the DNS re-propagates.

To change the instance type

  1. From the Instances page, select the instance you want to change.
  2. Click Quick Actions, and select Resize instance type.
  3. In the Resize Instance dialog, select a new instance type, and click Resize Instance.

Increasing the Data Storage

When changing the data storage, keep in mind the following:

  • To initiate, the instance must be running.
  • Data storage on the Primary disk can only be increased, not decreased.
  • When resizing the Primary disk:
    • The instance is shut down and a new backup is created. Depending on the size of your instance, the backup may take more than an hour to complete.
    • The FME Flow services do not run until the server restarts.
  • When resizing the Temporary disk, its contents are deleted. No backup is available. If no backup is conducted manually, you will lose all data on that disk. Before resizing, review the contents of that disk in the FME Flow Web User Interface Temp Resources folder, and download any files you need.

  2. On the page for your instance, ensure the Summary tab displays.
