AIXM 5.x (Aeronautical Information Exchange Model GML, Version 5.x) Reader

AIXM v5 is a global standard developed to facilitate the exchange and storage of digital aeronautical information. It employs the GML (Geography Markup Language) format, ensuring compatibility and interoperability across various systems and platforms in the aeronautical industry.

Current Version

  • AIXM 5.1.1
AIXM is a standard developed and managed by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), and the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL). For more information on this open XML/GML standard, see the AIXM project website.
Note  The AIXM5X reader is specifically designed to handle advanced AIXM v5 constructs, including the management of AirspaceTimeSlice elements linked to GeoBorder features and the resolution of contributor airspaces to determine their dependent vertical and/or horizontal limits. It will replace the AIXM5 reader, which serves as a basic interface to the GML reader, but lacks support for these specialized features. The older AIXM5 reader is scheduled for deprecation as we transition to this more capable AIXM5X reader.
This documentation assumes familiarity with GML and the AIXM v5 format.
