Reset Password
Select System Configuration > General.
You can give your Users the ability to reset their passwords for logging on to FME Server. When Reset Password is enabled, a "Forgot your password?" link appears on the login page of the FME Server Web User Interface. This link enables users to receive an e-mail to reset their password.
Tip: To set standards for new and updated passwords, see Password Policy.
To configure Reset Password ability
- Enable Reset Password.
- Configure user e-mail addresses.
- Configure settings for sending password reset e-mails.
- Click the expand icon (+) beside Reset Password and complete the fields under Email Settings:
- SMTP Server: Mail exchange server domain name or IP address used for sending e-mails.

If Connection Security (below) is SSL/TLS, specify port 465. If StartTLS or None, specify port 587.
- SMTP Account: If the SMTP server requires authentication, this is the user name.
- SMTP Password: If the SMTP server requires authentication, this is the user password.
- Connection Security: The encryption mechanism used for the connection.
- SSL/TLS: The connection uses Transport Layer Security (TLS), formerly Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), supported by most common SMTP e-mail servers.
- StartTLS: An SSL/TLS connection with the e-mail server is initiated using the STARTTLS command.
- None: The connection is unencrypted.
- Email From: Corresponds to the From field in the e-mail messages. If users reply to the e-mail, it is directed to this address.
- Email Subject: Corresponds to the Subject field of the e-mail.
Common SMTP Server Domain Names - Click Save
- Click the expand icon (+) beside Reset Password and complete the fields under Email Settings:
On the General tab of the System Configuration page, move the Reset Password slider to the right.
Note: You must be a member of the fmesuperuser role to enable Reset Password.
The Reset Password feature only functions properly for users who have valid e-mail addresses. For more information, see Users.
Users who do not have valid e-mail addresses can see and click the "Forgot your password?" link, but will not receive an e-mail to complete the reset.
To disable Reset Password ability
On the General tab of the System Configuration page, move the Reset Password slider to the left.
