Installing Security Updates

If your FME Cloud instance is configured for Unattended security updates of the operating system (OS), security updates are installed in the background as soon as they become available. No additional action is necessary.

If your instance is configured for User initiated security updates, you must initiate updates after they become available. Depending on the updates, you may need to reboot the instance after installation.

To determine the security update configuration of an instance

  1. From the Dashboard, select an instance.
  2. On the Details tab, see OS Security Updates.

To determine if security updates are available, or if a reboot is required following update install

  1. From the Dashboard, select an instance.
  2. On the Details tab, see Security Update Status.

To install updates (and reboot the instance, if required)

  1. From the Dashboard, select the instance for which updates are available.
  2. Click Apply OS updates.
  3. On the Apply OS Security Updates dialog, click Apply Updates.
  4. As the updates are installed, the instance is available and running. You can monitor the status of the update on the Dashboard, but you cannot perform other management tasks on the instance.
  5. After the updates are installed, re-check the Security Update Status, under the Details tab, to see if a reboot is required.

To reboot an instance, if required following update install

  1. From the Dashboard, select the instance for which a reboot is required.
  2. click Reboot required.
  3. On the Reboot Instance dialog, click Yes, Restart.
  4. You can monitor the status of the reboot on the Dashboard. Your FME Server instance and services are not available until the instance finishes restarting.
