FME can read Navisworks project files (.nwf), distribution files (.nwd), and cache files (.nwc).
The Navisworks reader produces FME Features from Navisworks elements, with feature types based on their position within the hierarchy of elements in the file. This is likely to change in future FME versions.

Reader Overview
The value for the Reader Dataset is the path to the .nwf, .nwd, .nwc source data file. If the data file does not exist, or if the file is unrecognized by the reader, then the translation will fail.
Navisworks elements will be processed and any geometry nodes under each element will be processed and represented on features.
About .nwf Files
An .nwf dataset contains an index of all models linked to it. FME will attempt to follow these links to read the models the .nwf file points to.
First, FME will follow the path it reads from the dataset; if it fails to find the target file at that location, FME will search in the same directory as the .nwf dataset for a file with the same name as the linked file. If FME fails to find the linked model in either place, FME will be unable to read it.
