OBQCYL: Oblique Cylindrical Projection

This is a more general implementation of the Swiss Oblique Cylindrical projection. This variation is more general in that it accepts a scale reduction parameter and a normal parallel.

The normal parallel is the latitude at which the radius of the Gaussian sphere is determined. In the SWISS system, the Origin Latitude was used to calculate the radius of the Gaussian sphere.

This system is used to support the predefined Hungarian EOV coordinate system.

Parameter Name

Description

ORG_LNG

The longitude, in degrees, of the origin of the projection.

ORG_LAT

The latitude, in degrees, of the origin of the projection.

PARM1

Latitude, in degrees, of the normal parallel (the latitude at which the radius of the Gaussian sphere is determined).

X_OFF

The false easting to be applied to all X coordinates, selected to cause all X coordinates within the coordinate system to be positive values of reasonable size.

Y_OFF

The false northing to be applied to all Y coordinates.

SCL_RED

Scale reduction; that is, the degree to which the tangential cone is shrunk into the earth to achieve uniform distribution of distortion introduced by the projection.
