HOM2XY: Hotine Oblique Mercator – Two Points, Rectified

This variation of Hotine produces rectified Cartesian coordinates. Its origin is the intersection of the central geodesic and the equator of the aposphere. It is retained primarily for historical purposes as it is rarely ever used.

To remain consistent with prior releases, this type uses the same rectification technique as the Alaska variation.

Parameter Name

Description

PARM1

The longitude, in degrees, of the first point on the central geodesic.

PARM2

The latitude, in degrees, of the first point on the central geodesic.

PARM3

The longitude, in degrees, of the second point on the central geodesic.

PARM4

The latitude, in degrees, of the second point on the central geodesic.

ORG_LAT

The latitude, in degrees, of the center of the coordinate system being defined. That is, the point on the central geodesic which has this latitude is the natural origin of the projection.

X_OFF

The false easting to be applied to all X coordinates, usually selected to cause all X coordinates within the coordinate system to be positive values of reasonable size.

Y_OFF

The false northing to be applied to all Y coordinates.
